Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Langdale C of E School we recognise that education has the power to change and shape lives.  We believe that learning outside the classroom is as important as inside and aim to inspire and engage our children throughout their time with us by making the most of both the local outdoor environment and places further afield.  Our goal is to provide all our children with the skills and broader experiences they need to become confident, resilient lifelong-learners in an ever-changing world.  We are proud to have achieved the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom's LOTC Mark (Gold).

Learning outside the classroom supports the curriculum and personal and social development and helps to build cultural capital. The Muddy Hands report from Outdoor Classroom Day and the Natural Connections demonstration project, a four year project to introduce outdoor learning into schools, both provide more information. You can read more about the benefits of learning outside the classroom here and download a guide to High Quality Outdoor Learning here.
