Safeguarding

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children includes

  • protecting children from maltreatment
  • preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Our approach to Safeguarding considers, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child. Langdale School work with multiple agencies to provide support to families, where necessary, to improve outcomes for children.

We are an Operation Encompass school. Operation Encompass directly connects the police with schools to secure better outcomes for children who are subject or witness to police-attended incidents of domestic abuse. Rapid provision of support within the school environment means children are better safeguarded against the short-, medium- and long-term effects of domestic abuse.

The school's Designated Safeguarding Officer is Mrs. R Underwood. For any issues relating to Safeguarding, please email dsl@langdale.cumbria.sch.uk
